KAUKAUNA, WI -- When the Yellow Book USA Mid-American Stock Car
Series hits the pavement on the half-mile track at Wisconsin International Raceway
in Kaukauna Saturday night at 7 p.m. there will be many new faces in the field
of drivers from a five-state area. The Mid-American cars join the Yellow Book
USA MARS Late Models and the FRRC Limited Late Models in a three division program
at kaukauna as the 33rd annual Red, White & Blue State Championship begins
its 2004 run.
Josh Larsen of Glencoe, MN is the series top rookie at this
point of the year with the Justice Brother 2004 Ford Taurus. Jonathan Eilen
of Hampton, MN, who has run several events in the American Speed Association
(ASA), will also make his first WIR start. Eilen won the most recent series
feature at 141 Speedway. He drives
the Eilen Trucking 2004 Monte Carlo. Veteran driver Bob Hacker of Loves Park,
IL, a two-time late model champion at Rockford Speedway, will also make his
first start at the Kaukauna raceway. He drives the Five and Drive Auto Sales
2003 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Other first time expected starters at WIR include Jason Taghikhani of Milwaukee, Jeff Tisler of Reedsville, Mark Storlie of Lakeville, MN, Pat McIntee of West Bend, Scott Null of Lake Mills, Jeremy Miller of Rockton, IL, Jason Mertes of Sheboygan, and Dan Powell of Polo, IL.
Gates open for spectators at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5:15
p.m. Free camping is offered for traveling race fans. The Yellow Book USA Mid-American
portion of the program is sponsored by Graphix Products while Pepsi and Y-100
