OREGON, WI--Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI will
play host to the touring Yellow Book USA Mid-American Stock Car Series for the
second time in its history Saturday night, August 7. Practice begins at 5:15
p.m. with qualifying at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. on the half-mile paved
oval. Peter Hernandez of Mokena, IL is the series point leader heading into
the event which will be combined with the normal MIS racing divisions. The Yellow
Book USA feature race is slated for 30 laps. Hernandez currently has 1,004 points
and is followed by Bobby Gutknecht of Oak Creek, WI with 910 and Jonathan Eilen
of Farmington, MN with 897. Eilen, in his first year as a series regular, led
the 2003 American Speed Assocaition (ASA) race at Madison international Speedway
and is expected to be one of the favorites. Jeremy Miller of Rockton, Il, winner
of the most recent Yellow Book USA race in Elko, MN, is another favorite with
a number of laps in competition at MIS. Miller is currently sixth overall in
series points.
