$112,500 awarded at Yellow Book USA Mid-Am racing divisions banquet Saturday

STURGEON BAY, WI -- A total of $112,500 worth of poiunt fund money and contingency awards were present to racing teams at the 12th annual Yellow Book USA Mid-Am Racing banquet Saturday night at the Leathem Smith Lodge in Sturgeon Bay. Champions honored include Peter Hernandez in the Mid-American Stock Car division, jeff Van Oudenhoven in the Midwest AllStar late model division, Jamie Farrell in the Mid-Am Super Truck division, and Gary Stein in the Midwest Stock Car Classics division.

Rookie of the year winners in various divisions were Josh Larsen in the Mid-American Stock Cars, Blake Bjorklund in the Midwest AllStar Late Models and Dominic Brewer in the Mid-Am Super Trucks. Robert Strupp, logistics manager at The Milwaukee Mile, announced that series' division would be competing on the one-mile oval August 27-29.

Steve Einhuas, the manager at Madison Internation Speedway, outline the work between series officials and his staff in forming a late model rules network across the Midwest. He also credited series technical officials for their efforts in combining the series super trucks and Madison International Speedway super truck rules. The series will be making seven stops at MIS in 2005, Einhuas indicated. Gary Vercauteren, series president, thanked series point fund sponsors for their assistance in 2004. They included Yellow Book USA, Hoosier Racing Tires, Turbo Blue Racing Fuel, Valvoline, Race Fan.com, B & B Race Engines, and Lynch Pontiac, Chev, and GMC. Graphix Products was also cited for for contributions to helping promote the series throughout the Midwest.

Contingency awards were presented by Zander Radio, Pace Trailers, Quartermaster, QA1, Schoenfeld Headers, Coleman Racing Products, Five Star Racing Bodies, AFCO, M & R Racing Products, Diamond Racing Wheeler, Starmaker Productions, Schwanke Race Engines, Hoosier, InterComp, Bassett Racing Wheels, B & B Racing Engines, Wisconsin Steel, Hi-Performance Cards, and Competition Race Technology.

Rules meetings will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Green Bay Racers Auction and Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Rockford Racers Auction. Mid-American Stock Car and Super Truck meetings will be at 10 a.m. at both sites while the Midwest AllStar Late Model drivers will meet at 2 p.m. at each auction.

Series officials Mike Lemke, Tom Wagner, John Leverance and Bob Abitz were all presented gift packages by series vice-president Kay Schaefer-Vercauteren.
