34th annual Red, White and Blue State Championship opens June 11 at WIR
KAUKAUNA, WI -- The 34th annual Red, White and Blue State Championship Series for late model stock cars will open Saturday night, June 11 at the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI. Dates of the second and third legs of the state championship will be Saturday nights, July 23 and Aug. 13. Pits open for competitors in five divisions at 2 p.m. Practice begins at 3 p.m. for Mid-American Stock Car Series cars followed by Fox River Racing Club limited late models at 3:15 p.m. and Midwest AllStar Racing Series (MARS) late models at 4 p.m. Qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with the first race of the night on the D-shaped half-mile paved track at 7 p.m.
Twin 50-lap MARS late model features are planned along with a 30-lap Mid-American Stock Car feature and a 25-Lap limited late model feature. Preliminary races will be held in all divisions. Sizzlin 4 and figure 8 racing will also be included on inner quarter-mile courses. In the MARS late model division the top 14 qualifiers, two drivers by series points and the top three for each of two last chance races will make up the 22-car feature starting field. The fastest qualifier will receive a Joe Shear Memorial plaque at each event, honoring the former series champion. State championship trophies will be awarded to the top three overall point finishers. Lowell Bennett of Neenah, WI is the defending champion. Several thousand dollars worth of contingency awards will be presented by WIR and the MARS Series to drivers carrying the proper decals on their cars.
Pepsi, WOZZ 93.5, Hoosier Tire, Turbo Blue Racing Fuel, Five Star Racing Bodies and Holiday Inn Select are the 2005 Red, White & Blue sponsors. The Pit Stop Bar & Grill will present a $200 cash award to the overall figure 8 champion and each figure 8 race will be worth $200 to the winner.
