Fab 4 class of 2001 champion, Tim Schultz Jr., won a few races in the Auto Value super stock division this past summer and could be a top runner in the division this coming season. Scott Stanchina has won a few Pepsi late model races and has just purchased a new car that could lead to a break-out upcoming season. Fab 4 driver and Bark River Basketball standout Ray Mott was also impressive in his super stock rookie season. Adam Menor was very impressive in his late model rookie season, as well, running with some of our best drivers on many occasions.
Add a few more upcoming talents from the Fab-4 division. Florences rags to riches story, Matt Wilcox, went from our hard luck award winner in 2002 for destroying his car in one of our worst crashes, to our 2003 track champion. The race for champion was one of the tightest point championships in the history of our speedway where seven drivers had a realistic chance of winning the title on the final night of the season. Matt Wilcox hung on for his first track championship. Matt has now purchased a former super stock championship car and plans on running for the rookie of the year in the division.
Another Fab-4 driver that is moving up to the super stock division is Brent Swanson of Norway. Brent is the son of Brian Swanson who owns Brians Auto Body and Towing of Norway. Brian and his towing service have been supporting the speedway for more than 20 years. Brent and Brian just bought won of the top Auto Value super stock cars and I am expecting them to be strong even in their rookie season.
Though it seems like all it wants to do is snow outside, racing is just around the corner. And all of these teams should make for an exciting season. Our first event is the annual K-Mart car-show on April 24th and our season opener is scheduled for Saturday afternoon on May 15th, if all the snow is gone by then
