DICK TRICKLE AND GOLDIE TO RETURN TO THE TRACK
Iron Station, NC (May 4, 2004) NASCAR Veteran Dick Trickle will be competing in a select number of short track special events throughout the Midwest as hes done each year since his move to North Carolina to compete in the NASCAR Cup and Busch Series. This year will bring back memories for the Midwest fans that have followed Trickles short track career. Trickle will once again be behind the wheel of Goldie one of his uniquely named short track cars from the late 80s. Goldies last wins were at Phoenix International Raceway where she took back-to-back victories in 1989 and 1990 in the Southwest Tour events held in conjunction with Trickles first two NASCAR Winston Cup races in Phoenix. After 1990 Goldie was retired and housed in Trickles shop in North Carolina. Trickle and Kevin Lang, owner of Advanced Racing, whos ASA cars Trickle has driven over the last few years, decided it was time to have a short track car that would be competitive, safe, and exclusively available for Trickle to compete in special events. Lang drove down during the winter and picked up Goldie and took her back to his shop in Medina, MN to give her a new dress and the latest in racing technology. Trickle and Lang are working with Tesar Engineering for their short track motor program and Goldie will be wearing a new Five-Star 2004 Monte Carlo body which will carry the notorious #99.
Trickles first short track event for 2004 will be at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI on Memorial Day. Hell be competing in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Midwest Series 200-lap event in a car owned by local track star Tim Rothe. Goldies body and specs arent legal for the NASCAR Elite series.
