NORWAY - Hyde's Jamie Iverson continued his dominance at Norway Speedway Friday. Over 2,000 fans showed up to watch the 18th annual Stateline Challenge. "Over the years the race has treated fans to some of the best short-track racing the Midwest has to offer," said Dickinson County Racing Association President John Ostermann, noting over 30 Pepsi late models from the U.P. and northeastern Wisconsin battled to win the 104-lap feature worth $1,000.

Iverson held off Terry Baldry, who has won 10 track championships at Wisconsin International Raceway. He kept the pressure on Iverson while the two battled lapped traffic throughout the race but could not make the pass. Point leader Jim Duchow finished third and Mike Gardner, who took the late model feature at WIR Thursday, finished fourth. Defending track champion Kris Kelly, Bob Menor and John Novara rounded out the top seven. Scott Degnan captured the B-feature, turning back Adam Menor and Curt Servant.

"One of the best races of the night was the Auto Value super stock feature," Ostermann said. Terry Reed and Mark Bubloni raced side-by-side for 21 laps with the two exchanging the lead nine times. When Reed couldn't complete the pass, rookie Brett Swanson got underneath Bubloni on lap 23 and looked to be on his way to his first feature win. However, in a spectacular finish, John Komp of Menominee got up on the outside of Swanson on the last lap and won by inches. Jeff Boettcher, Ryan Windell and Terry Reed completed the top five. Steve Sorenson claimed the B-feature by inches over Darren Peterson.

Slammer feature went to Mace Mattison. In the Fab 4, Brett Bray bagged A-feature; Dan Dubord, B, and Brian Havelka Jr., C. Gary Dubord Jr. prevailed in the dash.
