Norway Speedway
June 4th, 2004
For years the Auto Value Challenge Series has brought together the best drivers from Upper Michigan and Wisconsin and last Friday night at Norway Speedway was no exception. Jim Duchow, driving the Lamers Motorsports Ford Taurus, won the Pepsi Late Model dash over Bob Menor of Wausaukee, Wisconsin. Duchow, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed defending track champion, Kris Kelly, on lap 14 to take the lead in the 50-lap main event. His lead was short lived as Kelly passed Duchow on lap 17 to retake the front position. Jamie Iverson took the point on lap 25 and held off challenges from Duchow and Terry Baldry. After a restart on lap 43, Baldry pushed up into Duchow and the two slid into the sand trap in turn two. Baldry was sidelined and Duchow only held on to 2nd for a lap until Bob Menor passed him on lap 44. The hard charging former champion then ran down Iverson, and the two battled for the remaining 6 laps with Menor pushing Iverson from the middle of the turn but unable to get underneath him. Iverson went on to win the $1,000.00 with Menor, Duchow, Kelly, Dave Adams, and Ryan Manthei rounding out the top 6.
The Auto Value Super Stock dash was won by Tom Neeley with Terry Reed coming in second. The Feature event saw racing veterans Tim Jarvis and Mark Bubloni battle for the lead for 13 laps until Bubloni put the bumper to Jarvis on lap 25. Jarvis then held on until lap 29 when Escanaba standout Ron Jenshak passed Jarvis on lap 30. Jenshak went on to win his first feature event and the $500.00 bonus. Ryan Windell, Jarvis, Terry Reed, Mike Johnson, and Matt Parkansky finished out the top 6. Mike Kudick won the B-feature over Tim Schultz Jr. and Chris Gardipee.
Travis Ridell won his 3rd feature in a row in the slammer division. Jim Stachowicz was second and Ryan Pollard was third.
The Fab Four A-feature was won by Gary Dubord Jr. Peter Tadisch and Gerald Dugree Jr. followed. The B-feature was won by Jim Helmer and the C-feature was won by Tony Wells. The dash was won by Peter Tadisch.
