Dark skies and cool weather did not discourage 1351 people from attending the Scotty’s Muffler night at Norway Speedway this past Friday night. Maybe it was Doug Rose and his Green Mamba Jet meltdown that kept everyone warm and stunned the crowd for the 13th season in a row. But, the racing was just as hot as the defending track champion Kris Kelly of Norway won both of his races in a dominating fashion. Kelly led the main feature for 25 of the 35 laps taking over the lead from a strong running Fred Gignac on lap 10. John Novara of Iron Mountain had his best finish of the season coming in 2nd and Gignac, Bruce White, and Dick Coleman rounded out the top five. Veteran Pepsi drivers Mike Reichenberger and Rob Manninen won the dash and the B-feature. Pete Polini took 2nd in the B with Bret Widdis, Brent Hanson, and Rich Holmstrom rounding out the top five. It was Brent Hanson first race back in the TV6 car since a horrific crash at the beginning of the season.

Veteran Mike Bubloni Jr. won the Auto Value Super Stock main over Ryan Windell, the current point leader. Wausaukee’s Matt Parkansky was 3rd followed by Mark Bubloni and Terry Reed. The B-feature was won by Steve Sorenson. Tim Krans took second and heat winner Tim Schultz Jr. was third.

Mace Mattison led the slammer main until Brian Smith put the bumper to him with one lap to go. Smith went on to win the event with Jim Stachowicz coming in 2nd.

The Fab Four dash was won by Dave Dugre. The A-feature was won by Mark Hanna, the B by Steve Schmidt, and the C by Karl Lamoreaux.

This week is Econo Foods night with qualifying at 6:00 and racing at 7:30.
