Even under threatening skies and cool weather, the return of short track racing legend Dick Trickle lived up to all of the pre-event hype that it was given. The attendance at the speedway broke modern day record and another appearance by Trickle has already been planned for next year. Driving a 16 year old car prepared by Kevin Lang out of Minnesota, it took Trickle very little time to prove he could still drive a race car at a track he hadn’t been to in 17 years. He qualified 3rd fastest in the competitive field. However, Jamie Iverson of Hyde, Michigan, continued his domination at the speedway by recording a clean sweep for the first time in many years. Defending track champion Kris Kelly finished 2nd in the feature event followed by Jim Duchow, Bob Menor, and Mike Reichenberger. Trickle, who started at the rear of the 20 car field, battled his way up to 8th. Dave Adams won the B-feature over Brent Timblin and Brett Whaley.

The Auto Value Super Stock feature was won by Mike Bubloni Jr. Tom Neeley was 2nd, and Jeff Boettcher, Ryan Windell, and Tim Jarvis rounded out the top 5. Mike Kudick won the B-feature followed by Beauchamp and Baumler.

The Slammer race was won by Neil Varda.

The Fab Four A-feature was won by Dave Knutson, the B by Jim Stanchina, and the C by Mike Drees.

Several former racing champions from days past were recognized before the feature event. Among them were Bob Iverson, Kent Pearson, Ron Paquette, Ron Baciak, Jim Peterson, Mike Bubloni Sr., Doug Possi, and Roger Osterberg.

This week is the mid-season championships and the Norway fire department will have another huge fireworks display. Time trials are at 5:45, racing is at 7:30.
