Plymouth Results August 25th 2007
(Plymouth) After the last two regular season shows and the USAC midget night were canceled due to rain, Plymouth Dirt Track is saw partly cloudy skies and a light breeze to kick off racing after the two week hiatus. The Stan Fox Memorial USAC race has been post poned to Friday September 7th.
Late Models were first in the rotation, followed by Sprints, Grand Nationals, and lastly the Outlaw Compacts division.
Bret Sievert of Mukwanago picked up the win in the 25 lap A-main feature for the Late Models, keeping his car to the point and holding off hard chargers Scott Specht of Sheboygan Falls and Jim Schmidt of Cleveland. Specht would finish second, Schmidt third, TJ Dolhun of West Allis was fourth, and George Scheffler of Waukesha rounded out the top five in the feature.
Scott Sohrwiede of Chilton picked up the win in a record setting B-main race, winning the 10 lap race in 2:34. Kyle Odekirk of Waldo was second, Charlie Schmidt of Oostburg was third, and Henry Dickman of Sheboygan was fourth, all four drivers transfering into the A-main.
In heat race action, George Scheffler of Waukesha picked up the win in the first of the three . Jim Schmidt of Waukesha won the second , and Brian Haese of Glenbuelah picked up his first career win in the Late Models with his win in the third heat race.
The Sprint Car division saw 2006 Plymouth Dirt Track champion Dave Enders of Kiel come one our retirement to run the 6k for Milwaukee's Kurt Davis. Enders proved why he is a past track champion taking charge in the 25 lap feature. Ken Jay Fiedler of Sheboygan Falls raced his way to second, Lance Fassbender of Burnette was third, Earl Possi of Escanaba, MI found his way to the fourth finishing spot after having to race his way in via the B-main qualifiers, and Danny Schlafer, whose all time wins in a sprint car now total 80, rounded out the top five.
Pete Ostrowski picked up the win in the first of two B-mains for the sprint division, with Al Schlafer of Sussex close behind him for second. Rob Pribnow of Mayville raced his way to third for the last transfer position of that race.
In the second B-main, Earl Possi and Tim Melis of Plymouth kept the battle up front a heated one, but Possi prevailed for the win in the end. Melis finished second, and Brian Portschy of Oostburg was third.
Terry Marten of Sheboygan Falls picks up the win in the first heat race for the Sprints, where Jack Parrish took a hard flip coming to the entrance of turn four, turn front to tail in the air. He was ok. In the second heat race,Dale Peters takes a soft tip after running into the back of the 66 car, luckly he walked away, and Travis Luedke of Plymouth went on to win. Lance Thompson wins the thrird heat race for his first career checkered flag. Scott Conger won the fourth heat race, and Ty Bartz won in the fifth and final heat race for the sprint cars.
Greg Haese took advantage of a late race caution to take the lead from Random Lake's Jeremy Sauter in the Grand National division A-main. Sauter worked up some steam, but couldn't find his way back around Haese. Bob Cullen of Chilton finished third, Doug Teunnissen was fourth, and Jason Roe rounded out the top five for the feature.
In the first of two B-mains for the Grand Nationals, Brett Wenzel picked up the checkers over Timm Anderson of Sheboygan. While Luke Scholten of Oostburg beat Josh McDonald to the line in the second B-main. All four drivers would transfer to the A-main.
Doug Teunnissen wins the first of four heat races for the Grand National Division.Greg Kempf of Kiel wins the second heat race.Brad Lubach wins the third heat race.Brian Kaat of Plymouth wins the fourth and final heat race for the Grand Nationals.
In the Outlaw Compact division, Jeremy Miller kept a hard charging Jason Juech of West Bend at bay to pick up the win in the A-main feature. Jay Riemer of Sheboygan Falls was third, Chad Riederer was fourth, and Steven Weber was fifth.
Curtis Moehring wins the first of three heat races for the Outlaw Compact division. Jason Juech of West Bend wins the second heat race. Steve Weber wins the third heat race.
There is no racing next weekend due to the Sheboygan County Fair, but Plymouth Dirt Track racing continues its 2007 racing season on September 8th. Tickets are $10. The gates open at 4:30p.m. and racing starts promptly after the opening ceremony at 6:00p.m..
