Plymouth Dirt Track

(Plymouth) There were 123 cars in total at Plymouth Dirt Track this past Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fair grounds. The rotation in the regular divisions of racing were Late Models, Sprints, Grand Nationals, and the Outlaw Compacts. Plymouth Dirt Track also featured Vintage Modifieds this week, who were given a heat and a feature race for the five cars competeing.
With 22 cars in the Late Model Division, there were three heats and an A-main. Scott Specht of Sheboygan Falls won the first heat over Waukesha's Rick Scheffler. In the second heat, Bill Rezutek of Big Bend picked up the checkered flag over TJ Dolhun of West Allis. Russ Scheffler of Waukesha was the winner of the third and final heat with Ron Eiler of Berlin following to finish second.
In A-main action for the Late Models, Russ Scheffler got his car to the point and never looked back. Bill Rezutek pushed the cushion chasing Scheffler down, mounting a charge lap after lap, but couldn't quite get it done. He would finish second. Charlie Schmidt of Oostburg was third, Dan Sorce of Franklin was fourth, and TJ Dolhun rounded out the top five.
There were four heats, 2 B-main qualifiers, and a 25 lap A-main feature for 40 Sprint cars on the night. Brian Kristan of Zion, Illinois, picked up the win in the first heat over Jim Melis of Glenbuelah. While in the second heat, team cars of Michael Emme (Manitowoc) and Terry Marten (Sheboygan Falls) had a 1-2 finish, Emme with the win. In the third heat, the winningest driver in the Sprints, Danny Schlafer of Sussex, grabbed the checkered flag over Rob Pribnow of Mayville. Jack Parrish of Waldo picked up his first win in the series with the fourth heat race win over Plymouth driver Travis Luedke.
In the first of two B-mains, Al Schlafer picked up the win over Alister Strohs of Adell, with Aaron Shipper finishing third. All three drivers transfered into the A-main. Scott Conger won the second B-main, and set a new track record for a 12 lap B-main, finishing the race in 2:59. Mark Wernes Jr. of Mukwanago was second, and Earl Possi of Escanaba was third for the final transfers into to feature.
Milwaukee driver Kurt Davis was lapping the field in the A-main, and picked up the win in the 25 lap feature. Lance Fassbender of Burnett followed him to the line to finish second. Brian Kristan was third, Danny Schlafer was fourth, and Travis Luedke was fifth.
There were 32 Grand Nationals competeing in four heats, a B-main qualifier, and a 25 lap A-main. Luke Scholten of Oostburg won the first of the heat races over Brian Kaat of Plymouth. In the second heat race, Brian Goetsch of Sheboygan picked up the win in the the See-Ya Later Motorsports car with Brian Cesar of Sheboygan following up in second. Dean Horneck of Kiel beat Dave Holm of Kewaskum to the line in the third heat race. In the fourth and final heat, Loren Lubach of Sheboygan beat Mark Fieber of Cascade.
Abe Meinnert won the B-main qualifer with Doug Teunnisen of Sheboygan falls finishing second. Steve Schneider was third, and Brad Mueller of Random Lake finished up fourth, finding his way into the A-main by finishing in the top 4 of the B-main for the second week in a row.
In the A-main, Loren Lubach found himself in familiar territory at Victory Lane, picking up the win. Brad Mueller who started shot gun on the of the 20 car field, finished second. Random Lake driver Jeremy Sauter was third, Jestin Danes of New Holstein was fourth, and Brian Goetsch rounded out the top five for the feature.
In the Outlaw Compact division, Corey Edler of Cascade picked up the win in the first of three heat races win Josh Moen of Plymouth finishing second. In the second heat, Jay Riemern of Sheboygan Falls picked up the win over Elijah Reiss in the Goetsch racing team car. Steven Weber of Plymouth won the third and final heat over Jason Voss of Plymouth.
Jason Juech of West Bend picked up his second feature win this season in the Outlaw Compacts. Corey Edler finished second, Chris Baumann of Elkhart Lake was third, Tom Schneider was fourth, and Steven Weber was fifth.
In the Vintage Modifieds, Bill Behm of Lomira picked up the heat win. Brian Titel of Sheboygan won the 12 lap feature.
In the second heat race for the Late Model Division, Don Singer of Waldo, rolled his car in the entrance of turn 2. He walked away from the wreck.
Next week Plymouth Dirt Track will be hosting the IRA sprint cars with PDT racing program on Saturday Night. And the Mid-season championships are July 7th, look for extended A-mains in all of the divisions.
