(Plymouth) The IRA outlaw sprint cars series was featured the weekend at Plymouth Dirt Track, running races with the IRA series were the Grand Nationals, Late Models, and Outlaw Compacts.
The Grand Nationals were first up on the card of events for the evening. Brian Goetsch won the first of three heats in the division, with Brad Dahmer following him to the line to finish second. Brad Mueller of Random Lake won the second heat over fellow Random Lake driver Jeremy Sauter. While in the third and final heat, Tony Miller, also from Random Lake, picked up the checkers over Dean Horneck of Kiel.
In the B-main Mark Fieber of Cascade kept his car to the point to pick up his first career win in the Grand National division. Greg Kempf of Kiel was second, Tyler Nault of Port Washington was third, and Luke Scholten of Oostburg was fourth, closing the door on fifth place fifth place finisher Jestin Danes of New Holstein for the final of the four transfer spots into the A-main feature.
It was a pair of Brad's finishing one-two in the A-main. Brad Mueller beat Brad Lubach of Elkart Lake in the feature. Jeremy Sauter drove his car to a third place finish. Doug Teunissen of Sheboygan Falls was fourth, and Loren Lubach of Sheboygan rounded out the top five in the feature.
The IRA sprint car division followed the Grand Nationals, and with thirty-three cars four four heats, one B-main, and a 30 lap A-main. Donny Goeden, a driver who cut his racing teeth at Plymouth, won the first heat race over Kim Mock of Pleasant Prarie. In the second heat, Plymouth Dirt Track racing regular Kurt Davis of Milwaukee, grabbed the win over Dave Uttech of New Berlin. Jason Johnson of Kewaskum beat Steve Meyer of Sheboygan Falls to the line the the third heat, and in the fourth and final heat race for the IRA sprints, Scott Biertzer of West Bend picked up the win over Bill Wirth of Cudahy.
In the first heat race for the sprints, Joe Symoens of Franksville rolled his car coming to the start/finish line, but was ok. Doug Wondra of Oakfield took a tumble near the start finish, he was also alright.
Scott Uttech of Kenosha picked up the win and the first of six transfer spots into the A-main feature. John Haeni of Browsnville was second, Wayne Modjaski Oak Creek was third, Tim Vandervere was fourth, Andy Hunt of Randolf was fifth, and PDT regular Troy Wondra of Campbellsport was sixth to pick up the last transfer.
First heat winner Donnie Goeden proved that he had the car to beat in the feature and picked up the win. Mike Reinke followed him to the line for second. Bill Warren was third, John Haeni was fourth, and Scott Biertzer was fifth.
The Late Model division were third on the night and had two heats and an A-main. Russ Scheffler of Waukesha beat Bret "The Jet" Sievert in the first heat, and Scott Spect of Sheboygan Falls picked up the checkers over Charlie Schmidt of Oostburg.
In A-main action, TJ Dolhun of West Allis picked up his first A-main feature win of the season over Scott Specht. Kyle Odekirk of Waldo came in third, Dan Source of Frankline was fourth, and Rick Scheffler of Waukesha was fifth.
During the A-main, Jim Letizia of Milwaukee is reported to suffered a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital to be examined, no other information was available at the time of the release.
In the Outlaw Compact division, Dennis Born of Plymouth picked up the win in the first heat race over Kurt Jakubowski of Sheboygan Falls. Jeremy Miller of Sheboygan Falls won the second heat race over Jason Voss of Plymouth.
Jeremy Miller picked up the win in the 15 lap feature for the Outlaws. Dennis Born was second, Steven Weber of Plymouth was third, Chris Baumann was fourth, and Jason Voss rounded out the top five.
In the second heat race, Michael Zitzer of Sheboygan rolled his car in turn one, landing back on his wheels. He was ok.
Next weekend at Plymouth Dirt Track is the mid season championship, with extended A-mains in all of the regular racing divisions. Gates open at 4:30 with racing to start immediately following the opening ceremonies at 6:00.
