Plymouth Dirt Track August 9th, 2008

It was Miller Night at the Races this past Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track. The grandstands were full and the weather was great.

Late Models were first in the rotation for the evening. Billy Rezutek, Big Bend, started on the pole this week in the feature after starting outside pole for the last three weeks. With a string of bad luck in the last few weeks, Rezutek wasn't able to pull off a victory. This week was a different story. Rezutek used the high groove to hold off Brad Mueller, Random Lake,  and Russ Scheffler, Waukesha, who were door to door for a handful of laps. Scheffler was able to get around
Mueller for second. Mueller was third. Craig Schueffner, Sheboygan Falls, was fourth. Rick Scheffler, Waukesha, rounded out the top five for the Late Model feature.

Heat winners for the Late Models were: Scott Specht of Sheboygan Falls and Randy Markwardt of Sheboygan.

In the Grand National division, Brad Dahmer, Sheboygan Falls,  was able to make up for last weeks bad luck in the heats and pick up the feature win over Jestin Danes, New Holstein. Tim Thompson was third, Brian Kaat, Plymouth, was fourth, and Matt Yancey, Sheboygan Falls, was fifth.

Jamie Theobald, Sheboygan, took the checkers in the B-main for the Grand Nationals. Gary Glander,  Sheboygan Falls, was second. Scott Schwarz, Chilton, was third, and Chris Baumann, Elkhart Lake, was fourth.

Heat winners for the Grand Nationals were: Matt Yancey, Brain Gilles, and Loren Lubach, Sheboygan.

The Sprint Car division feature saw Rookie Scotty Thiel, Sheboygan, having a banner run chasing down last years division champion Travis Luedke, Plymouth. Luedke held on to the lead with heavy lapped traffic. Thiel finished second. Danny Schlafer, Sussex, was third. Jason Johnson,  Allenton, was fourth, and Michael Emme, Manitowoc, was fifth.

Earl Possi, Escanaba, MI, once again found himself in the B-main to get to the feature. He went on to win over Troy Wondra, Lomira,  and Brian Johnson, Campbellsport. Ken Jay Fiedler, Sheboygan Falls, was fourth. Josh Walter, Plymouth, was fifth, and Lance Thompson, Dundee, was sixth. All six drivers transferred to the A-main.

Heat winners in the Sprint Division were: Doug Wondra of Oakfield, Shane Wenninger of Kewaskum, Scotty Thiel, and Travis Luedke.

In the Outlaw Compact division, Tim Simon, Fond du Lac, was able to hold off Jason Juech, West Bend, to pick up the feature win. Steven Weber, Plymouth, was third. Chad Riederer was fourth, and Sean Mueller, Plymouth, was fifth.
