In action at The Raceway at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday night, John Stanton of Reeseville jumped into the lead at the start of the 20-lap Suburban Motors Harley Davidson/Buell Modified A-Main. Stanton, however, had the misfortune to lose his muffler and had to go to the pits when the caution flag waved on lap nine for an incident involving Rick Strommen of Beaver Dam and Jim Zdroik of Big Bend. Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam had charged from his sixth row starting position to move into second on lap six. With Stanton going to the pits, Shraufnagel inherited the lead. When racing resumed, Schraufnagel stretched his lead while the rest of the field battled for position. A late race caution for a crash involving Matt Streekstra of Beaver Dam and Pete Laubmeier of Mazomanie closed the field up for the sprint to the end. Andy Voigt of Beaver Dam lined up behind Schraufnagel for the restart with one lap remaining. Voigt had made an impressive march to the second position coming from the back of the pack after being involved in an early race incident. In the one lap dash to the finish, Schraufnagel was able to hold off the challenges of Voigt to claim his fourth win at the facility this season. Lee Sohns of East Troy ran near the front from the start and finished in third. Larry Zirbel of Iron Ridge was also involved in an early race mishap, but drove from the back to finish a strong fourth. Frank Firari of Lowell had his best finish of the season in taking fifth.

Tim Lemirande of Verona powered his way into the lead at the start of the Wisconsin Dirt Late Models Association A-Main. Lemirande, who was the modified champion at the raceway the past two years, was challenged in the early going by Russ Scheffler of Pewaukee. As the race progressed, Keith Foss of Winona, MN fought his way into the second spot. In the closing laps Foss worked on Lemirande and on the final lap Foss pulled a slide job going into turn three to take the lead. Lemirande countered, however, diving underneath Foss in turn four and winning the drag to the finish line to pick up the win. Ron Berna of Green Bay followed in third finishing ahead of Jim Zdroik and Al Atkinson of Milwaukee.

Tim Doehling of Winneconne used the outside groove to get by Roger Lee of Wind Lake to take over the lead on lap eight of the Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals A-Main. Doehling stretched out his lead and cruised to his third win of the season. Lee finished in second. F.W. Formiller of Oshkosh moved up from the fourth row to cross the line in third. Early race leader Troy Weich finished in fourth. Steve Seitz of Beaver Dam was fifth.

Tim Fletcher of Burnett took over the top spot in the Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks A-Main when Jerry Kope of Oshkosh dropped out of the race with engine failure on lap five. Fletcher never gave up the position as he registered his first win of the season beating Dannon Tessmer of Allenton and Don VanderGalien of Wautoma to the checkerd flag. Trevor Schmidt of Hartford picked his way up through the traffic from the sixth row to finish in fourth. Eric Grunst of Beaver Dam ran well and finished in fifth.

Eric Barth of Sauk City started the Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends A-Main in the fifth row. Barth wasted little time as moved up into the second position on the third lap. Four laps later, Barth motored past Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City to take over the lead. Barth had to keep things in high gear as Greg Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls moved into second shortly thereafter and set his sights on Barth. Hartlaub was unable to get close enough to try a pass and Barth drove to his fourth win at the track this season. Wyttenbach followed in third ahead of Kevin Brill of Oostburg and Jim Bailey of Hingham.

Brandon Rennhack of Juneau became the fourth different A-Main winner of the season in the Wally’s Auto Dirt Devils division when he raced to the victory in the main event. Dustin Schwandt of Ripon drove up on the cushion and came home in second. Allan Schmitt of Columbus followed in third. Jolene Wille of Beaver Dam had her best run of the year in taking fourth. Tim Sheppard also had his best race of the year finishing in fifth.

Modified B-Main wins were registered by Russ Reinwald of Plainfield and Jay Schraufnagel. The dirt devil B-Main win went to Bert Clover of Waupun.

Modified heat race victories were recorded by John Stanton, Frank Firari, Jim Zdroik and Rick Strommen. Heat race winners in the Wisconsin Dirt Late Models Association were George Scheffler of Waukesha and Jim Zdroik. Other heat race wins went to Tim Doehling in the grand nationals, Jerry Kope and Tim Fletcher in the stocks, Eric Barth and Kevin Brill in the legends and Brandon Rennhack, Jolene Wille and Jasper Drengler of Shawano in the dirt devils.
