By: Kevin Ramsell

LOVES PARK, IL (Thursday, April 24, 2008) - The 61st season of weekly racing is underway at Rockford Speedway.  The action continues this Saturday night with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action.

Joining the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, NASCAR All-American Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers, and Coca-Cola RoadRunners will be the FIRA/Rascal Outlaw Challenge and the Popeye's Mini-Grand Prix.

Fans will not only see the best door panel to door panel action, but they will also be treated to open wheel action with the FIRA/Rascal Outlaw Challenge.  Most of these cars appear as mini Indy style race cars and they fly around the .29167 mile oval at full throttle.

The young fans will have the opportunity to see their fellow young fans compete in the Popeye's Mini-Grand Prix.  For many, this will be their first chance to get behind the wheel of a mini-car and race to the checkered flag.

The gates open at 5:00 pm with practice starting at that time.  Time Trials start at 6:15 pm with racing starting at 7:07 pm.
