N.E.W. Dirt met for the last time prior to the scheduled start of the 2005 race season. The main topic of discussion was the progress of the track. The board was able to field numerous questions and let everyone know where things are at with the reconfiguration.

So what is up with the track? Despite some uncooperative temperatures over the last couple of weeks the track is progressing nicely. Work to place the previously delivered clay into place is finishing up and some additional clay is being delivered courtesy of Oneida. The concrete block are scheduled to be set in place this week and volunteers are welcome to come out and help. Start time is 8 am on Saturday. New this year will be a new concrete wall on both sides of corners three and four. The safety fence is set to be installed shortly after the completion of placing the concrete. The final major change will get final approval tonight as the club will meet with officials to set the stage for installing the new lights. The poles and lights are ready to go , however, coordination with the electric company and electricians is necessary to get the plan right. That is the latest official update.

Some other important notes: Spread the word that start time will be 5 pm for the first two weeks and a decision will be made regarding the remainder of the season after that. In addition, with any project of this magnitude there are bound to be numerous rumors. Therefore, it was announced last night at the club meeting that all OFFICIAL track news will be released by President, Vern Doxtator, Vice President Dave Rihm, Dave Panske, or Dave Buss going forward. It is our hope that this will help clear up any confusion.

See you on the 22nd!
