Parker nets second WISSOTA Late Model feature win at Shawano Speedway

 Shawano, WI (June 26, 2010) – The weather once again cooperated with the Shawano Speedway racing program. Paul Parker won his second WISSOTA Late Model feature of the year. Tim Van De Hei and Dan Michonski both won their second features in a row in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Stock Car divisions. Brett Swedberg won his first FASTRAK Crate Late Model feature of the year, while Clint Forstner won his third IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  

Craig Bartz paced the WISSOTA Late Model feature for the first three laps when Paul Parker ducked under Bartz to take the lead. Bartz, Chris Oertel, Kerry Hansen and M.J. McBride were all in pursuit. Ron Berna joined the top five on the next lap and raced in a pack with Hansen and Oertel for the next several laps. Berna won that battle to take the third spot.

Midway through the race Parker had built himself a comfortable lead, with Bartz also comfortably in second. Oertel also reclaimed the third spot at this time, with Nick Anvelink joining the top five. Anvelink steadily worked his way up to third place. But there was no denying Parker as he cruised to the win over Bartz, Anvelink, Oertel and Gordie Seegert.

In the IMCA Modified feature Tim Van De Hei jumped out to the quick lead over Marcus Yarie, Brandon Czarapata, Aaron Milavitz and Jerry Wilinski. Czarapata took the second spot from Yarie on lap three as Wilinski moved up to fourth. Wilinski eventually got up to third when a caution came out on lap nine.

Czarapata took the lead from Van De Hei on the restart, only to have Van De Hei battle back to retake the lead one lap later. Jason Czarapata also joined the top five at this time and engaged in a battle with Wilinski for third. Wilinski was able to secure the third spot, but it was Van De Hei racing to his second straight feature win at the Speedway.

Jamie Becks took the early lead over Tony Seefeldt, Vern Stedjee, Harley Simon and Mitchell Stankowski in the IMCA Stock Car feature. By lap six Becks, Stedjee, Alan Gast and Dan Michonski raced in a pack. Michonski moved into the second spot by the end of lap eight and set his sights on Becks.

Michonski took the lead one lap later as Becks headed to the pits with problems. Once in the lead, Michonski pulled out to a slight lead over Gast, while Shawn Wagner worked his way by Simon and Stedjee for third. A late race caution slowed the action. Michonski held on at the restart and led the remaining laps to take the win. He was followed by Gast, Stankowski, Wagner and Stedjee.

An eight car pile-up on the opening lap of the FASTRAK Late Model feature forced Jeff Curtin, Joel Bennett and Wayne Block out of the race. Brett Swedberg took the lead when the race was restarted with Terry Gorst, Scott Lewis, Justin Hirt and Dave Fieber following. Another caution on lap four slowed the action.

Swedberg maintained the lead on the restart with Gorst, Hirt, Lewis and A.J. Diemel following. With Swedberg pulling away to a slight lead Hirt grabbed the second spot from Gorst. Just before the midpoint of the race Fieber’s car hit the wall on the backstretch bringing out the final caution of the race. Swedberg led the remained of the laps to take the win over Hirt, Gorst, Lewis and Diemel.

Kevin Bethke and Cody Hudson swapped the lead over the first three laps of the IMCA Northern SportMod feature before Johnny Whitman took the lead on lap four. A caution on lap six slowed the action. Whitman continued to lead on the restart with Clint Forstner, Jason Jach, Tom Natzke and Travis Van Straten following.

Whitman led until six laps remained when Forstner used the low groove to take the lead. Forstner held on the rest of the way to take home the win over Whitman, Van Straten, Natzke and Jach.
