Moffitt Takes Next Step, Debuts in Super Late Model at Slinger Nationals
Fifteen year old challenges seasoned Veterans
Grimes, Iowa (July 11, 2008) – Brett Moffitt will take the next step up the ladder, working to advance his professional racing career, when he makes his debut this coming Tuesday during the 2008 Slinger Super Speedway Nationals.
One of the most well known and prestigious short track events in the nation, the Slinger Super Speedway, located in Slinger Wisconsin, will host the annual event on Tuesday, July 15th. For over 30 years the Slinger Nationals have brought together the who’s who of short track racing, and this years entry list is no exception, including NASCAR drivers Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, David Stremme, Kelly Bires, Eric Darnell, and Scott & Chris Wimmer, as these stars will compete against the nations toughest short track professionals.
Moffitt’s debut in the Super Late Model division comes on the heels of a very successful test session last month at Slinger, scheduled based on the success Moffitt has had piloting the 5K Motorsports prepared entries in the ASALMS North and Challenge Divisions where Moffitt is currently in third place in North Division points and leading contender in the “Rookie of the Year” chase.
At only fifteen years old, Moffitt’s young racing resume includes a successful career in WKA and IKF go-cart racing, including a prestigious “Golden Driller” trophy from the annual “Tulsa Shootout”. As a 2007 rookie in the IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SpotMod division, Brett won one of Modified racings premier events, the “Harris Clash”. With that win Moffitt placed his name in the Knoxville, IA Raceway’s record book as the youngest person ever to win a feature event at the famed half mile facility.
Fast forward to 2008, Moffitt, a resident of Grimes, Iowa, continues his winning ways, signing on with the Wisconsin based 5K Motorsports team, competing for “Rookie of the Year” honors in the ASALMS North Division, advancing to participate in the ASALMS Challenge Series and now making his debut in Super Late Model racing. All of this and Moffitt still finds time to occasionally compete in the IMCA, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division.
