The 10th Frame / Monday Motorsports Chevy Monte Carlo was onhand this evening at WIR for the season opener of "Thursday Night Thunder". After last week's rainout, everyone was anxious to get the Fox River Racing Club season underway.
In qualifying, we turned a 19.592 on lap 1 and got a little bit sideways on lap 2 coming out of turn 4, but still salvaged a 19.487. This wasn't quite good enough
to get the top spot as we missed fast time by .018 seconds. For the second straight event, we qualified 2nd.
In the 6-lap dash event, we started inside row 3 in the fifth spot. The dash event consists on the fastest 6 cars from qualifying for a six lap race. This race proved to be a very fast race with every lap in the race in the 19.4 and 19.5 second range. We finished the dash in the 4th position.
In the feature event, we started inside row 6 in the eleventh spot. We were able to make a powerful move to the outside lane early in the event moving up into the
sixth spot by lap 8. After a few laps battling with the 5th place car, our two cars tangled in turn 1 causing damage to right front corner of the #10 10th Frame Monte Carlo. We pitted to fix the significant damage to the car and the crew did an excellent job getting the car back out on the tail end of the pack before the race restarted. We restarted the race on lap 12 and worked the outside lane for the duration of the race and we able to salvage a 12th place finish.
We are currently 5th in the WIR Late Model Point Standings
Our next event will be next Thursday, June 2nd at WIR for "Thursday Night Thunder" Racing Starts at 7pm!
See you there!
