As the signs of summer
begin to disappear once again another race season nears it's end. Soon the
race tracks will be covered in snow and the fire breathing monsters that once
roared around these tracks will be hibernating until next season. Only two
Interstate Racing Association(IRA) point shows remain before the awards can
be claimed. This time of year always brings out the “best” in racing.
Teams often times tend to shine when the pressure is on. There is nothing
quite like this time of the year.
The Osborn and Son Trucking number 80K of Mike Kertscher has had an outstanding
rookie season. Mike currently sits 5th in the overall point standings where
he has wrapped up the Rookie of The Year honors. Mike is a mere 68 points
out of fourth place so the final two shows of the season will certainly be
ones to watch. He has been named as a top candidate for the National Sprint
Car Rookie of the Year so it is very important the team finish the season
off strong.
The Osborn and Son Trucking number 1M of Kim Mock is expected to return to
competition this Saturday at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam WI.
Kim was involved in a serious crash at the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville,
IA were he sustained a head injury. Up until that point Kim had the largest
point lead in IRA history as he headed into the second half of the season.
This unfortunate incident forced Kim to take a few weeks off and concentrate
on his recovery. Kim currently sits 8th in the overall IRA point standings.
