LaCrosse wins at Thunderhill
By Greg Aregoni
Saturday Night June 16, 2007- Tim Czarneski set the pace early on in the IMCA Modified 20 lap Main event. Shawn Kilgore would stay right on his bumper until an Al Gibson spin on lap three brought the race to a hault. Green flag action allowed Tim Czarneski to build his lead up to 10 cars at the halfway point of the race. With the leaders using the topside, Benji LaCarosse went to the bottom of the track. LaCrosse used the bottom to grab the lead with 6 laps to go with a power move to the inside of Czarneski. Another Al Gibson spin sent the caution flying with three laps to go. LaCrosse kept his momentum to win his second feature of the season and increase his point lead. Kilgore was second followed by Tim Czarneski, Todd Dart, and Paul Parker.
Willie DeGrave led the first few laps of the IMCA Stockcar feature until a caution on lap 3 for a Tony Bouche spin kept the field close. DeGrave would continue to dominate the race until five laps to go when Shawn Havel made the pass for the lead down low. DeGrave would stay at it up on the topside. At the white flag, DeGrave was able to make a charge on the outside. Through turns three and four on the last lap DeGrave got just enough and beat Havel to the line for his first career IMCA Stockcar feature win. Havel was second followed by Scott Pagels, Pat Davister and Cory Cochart.
Chris Christenson led the opening lap of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature before a C.J. Weckler caution stalled the race. Dave DeGrave used the highside on
the restart to take the top spot from Christenson with Ed Anschutz right behind. DeGrave switched to the bottom groove with Anschutz up top. Anshutz shot to
the inside on lap 9 and spun out the DeGrave machine. Roger Laviolette got the worst as he slammed hard into DeGrave. With the caution coming out Keith Kickbusch inherited the lead. A Flat tire by Kickbusch gave Jeff Lautenbach the lead with three laps to go. Lautenbach would cruise to his first feature win at Thunderhill this season. Peterson would finish second followed by Kickbusch, Marcus Moede, and Christenson.
Tim Jandrin led the opening lap of the Street Stock before James Iverson grabbed the lead. Jeremy Wiitala made his move to second and quickly made the bid for
the lead down low. Wiitala made the pass and cruised to his second feature win of the season followed by Iverson, Tim Czarneski, Dennis Weidner, and John
Sternard.
Brian Belleau won the Bomber feature but was disqualified for illegal springs. The win was then given to Jesse Kroll.
Patrick King led the last 14 laps in picking up his first career 4 Cylinder feature win at Thunderhill.
