2010 Wisconsin Sport Truck Association Pre-Season Preview

The Wisconsin Sport Trucks wrapped up a thrilling 2009 WIR season with Ron Magdanz successfully defending his championship from 2008. Jason Plutz 2nd, Brandon Kucksdorf 3rd, Reagan May 4th, and Taylor Vandermoss rounding out the top 5.

Looking ahead to 2010, Magdanz will return to try to become the first Sport Truck driver to get 3 consecutive championships.  Other returning contenders include Jason Plutz, Reagan May, Taylor Vandermoss, Jeff VanHandel and a stacked field of other drivers.  2010 will also bring a whole new field of rookies. Competing for this year’s rookie honors are drivers Parker May, younger brother of Reagan May, Tim Frank, Karly Stadler, and Dylan Ihde.

More news from the off season is that there has been a major rule change in the engine department. The Wisconsin Sport Trucks have mandated all trucks to have the Yamaha Phazer engine. No other engines will be allowed to run. The club body feels that this will promote better racing and raise the already high competition level.

As most know, the Wisconsin Sport Trucks also have a Touring series that travels to various tracks throughout Wisconsin.  In 2009 the Touring points series ended with Jeff Looker on top,  Sam Haven 2nd, Jake Boldig 3rd, Reagan May 4th, and Brian Willems 5th. 2010 will bring a similar schedule to the Touring series as 2009. The Sport Trucks will run 3 times at Golden Sands Speedway, twice at Dells Raceway Park, once at Slinger, and once at a new track for the Sport Trucks, 151 Speedway.

As the offseason winds down and the new season comes to a start the Wisconsin Sport Truck Association is expecting yet another competitive and exciting year.
